NEIGHBORHOOD UPDATE
Where has the time gone? Here we are already four months in to 2009. It’s also that time of the year to remind those that are not HOA member to join the homeowners association. The menial $35 per year is a great investment and the funds are used to maintain the beautiful entrance that always looks it’s best and the park.
Speaking of the park, the funds used in the park have been being matched by Santa Rosa County funds and that is how we have been able to improve the parks appearance, put in sprinklers, add trees, sod and most importantly get the new play ground equipment, the gazebo and tennis court maintenance. Three more pieces from the county are expected this month. So with all these improvements in mind, remember how much more clout a larger HOA membership would have with the county. This clout and strength in numbers would afford us the ability to request additional funds and assistance from the county that would benefit the HOA.
Its that time of year again and we are planning our spring picnic for Sunday, May 3rd at 2 PM. It will again be in the tennis courts, the bouncer for the kids has been ordered, and hamburgers and hot dogs with all the all the garnishes will be supplied. All you have to do is bring a side dish, your drinks, and something to sit on. Then just sit back, mingle with current neighbors, talk to new neighbors, make some new friends and enjoy yourself.
On Saturday, May 9th at 8:30 AM we are planning a neighborhood entrance and park workday. Plans are that at the entrance we will be removing some of the redbud trees, check and repairing sprinklers, and trimming trees. The plans for the park are to spray for weeds, lay some sod, along with trimming the trees. We plan on having a chipper at the park and members of the HOA can plan ahead to trim their trees and bring their trimmings to the park to be put in the chipper. Afterwards we will have wood chips available for your landscaping projects and encourage everyone to come by and get what they might need. If this sort of project is successful and beneficial to members we will plan to do this in the project again in the fall again, and maybe others in the future.
Equipment needed for the workday:
- A trailer to take the trimmings from the entrance to the park.
- Pump sprayers for weeds in the park.
- Rakes and shovels
