NEIGHBORHOOD UPDATE AND REQUEST FOR HELP!

Well summer is just around the corner, and you can see everyone bustling around shuttling kids to games, working in their yards and just out walking and enjoying the neighborhood. Not only is this an exciting time of year, its and exciting time to be part of the VVHOA. We have a new board that is eager and excited to work with the neighborhood to make it a great association. They have jumped in eagerly starting off with the annual picnic the first of May.

Also this month we have started the renovation of the Gondolier Blvd. community park, which is part of the neighborhood renovations that started last year with the updating and enhancement of the entrance and the trees that were added to the park. The plan is to continue the renovation on the community park and tennis courts by adding irrigation to take care of the trees planted, nourish the grass while maintaining weeds thus making the park enjoyable for everyone. If anyone has seen the park lately, the grass is overgrown with weeds, stickers, park equipment is worn and although it appears better than the dumpsite following the dredging and hurricane Ivan, it still needs a great deal of work. The county has been agreeable to affording a parking area for the tennis court, has offered monetary assistance in updating the playground equipment. VVHOA and the county parks department have installed an irrigation system for the park.

This brings us to our request for donations. The board had worked closely with the county to obtain labor to trench the irrigation lines, commitments to maintain the park, provide water, and electrical. We are working to get more playground equipment and a gazebo for the park. Since we are competing with all of the other parks in Santa Rosa County we will need your donations to be used as matching funds with the county.

Now, this is where each and every one of you comes in. At this time, your help is needed. Above and beyond your annual $35 membership fee, as outlined above, there are additional costs that need to be covered. We would like you to take some time, drive past the park, look at the minimal improvements that have been made, then in the attached envelope, send in your generous donation for the Gondolier Park Completion.

Whether you have kids, grand kids, play tennis or just walk the Gondolier circle, this park is for everyone, and it has not been even addressed since 1999 when the playground equipment that is there now was placed in the park. So PLEASE, let’s all take pride in our neighborhood, and contribute monetarily and thru volunteer help so we can complete this project.

If you have any questions or want to volunteer, please call me at 934-3236.

Thanks for your contribution and assistance.
